DYSTEN has supplied traffic management elements as part of the construction of a section of the N-S route in Ruda Śląska. Two variable message boards with traffic measurement stations and cameras were installed on the section from Kokota Street to Bielszowicka Street. The third variable message sign was placed near the roundabout at the intersection of Bielszowicka and 1-go Maja streets.
The new section of the N-S route has bolstered the region’s road infrastructure. The investment will significantly enhance communication between the districts of Ruda Śląska and improve the connectivity with the A4 motorway. Thanks to traffic management elements provided by DYSTEN, drivers will experience increased comfort and safety while driving.
Elements of traffic measurement as part of permanent traffic organisation
Variable Message Signs (VMS) present dynamic information about road conditions, enabling smooth and safe journeys. Cameras with detection are placed above the signs (on the section from Kokota Street to Bielszowicka Street) to monitor traffic and support management.
Traffic measurement stations and induction loops are essential system elements, enabling precise data collection on traffic intensity, dynamics, and other parameters for road capacity analysis.
Integrating all supplied devices with the existing software ensures consistent and effective system operation, facilitating rapid response to changing road conditions and traffic organisation optimisation.
Modernization of road infrastructure in Ruda Śląska
Investment
„Construction of a section of the N-S route from Kokota Street (without the junction) in Bielszowice to the junction with the A4 motorway (without the junction) along 1 Maja Street in Ruda Śląska.”
STAGE I
Section from E. Kokota Street to Bielszowicka Street along with the junction and reconstruction of Bielszowicka Street from the junction with the N-S route to 1-go Maja Street, roundabout at the intersection of Bielszowicka and 1-go Maja Streets and section of 1-go Maja Street from the intersection with Bielszowicka Street to Gabora Street.
The section of the N-S route from Kokota Street to Bielszowicka Street in Ruda Śląska is less than 1 kilometre long. The Regional Programme of European Funds (RPO WSL 2014-2020) largely financed the investment.
As part of the works, a new stormwater drainage system was also built, existing networks were renovated, energy-efficient street lighting was installed, and new engineering structures were also introduced, such as a bridge, underpass, technological footbridge, culverts, retaining walls and screens.
Convenience for residents and drivers
The investment aims to improve communication between districts and enhance connectivity with the A4 motorway. Implementing the project also means increasing road users’ safety and comfort through new pavements, bicycle paths, islands, pedestrian crossings, horizontal and vertical markings, and traffic management elements.
In the next stage, the construction of another section of the route from Bielszowicka Street to the A4 motorway is planned.
